Three for SIUE

Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville stayed in the region to sign three players in the Class of 2010.

The latest player to sign was 6'9" forward Alex Brown from Herrin, Ill. Brown is a long, athletic player who is one of the players in Southern Illinois. He blocked 145 shots as a junior.

Not only does he have great length, but he can run the floor as well. He game is still developing. I think this was a great get for SIUE coach Lennox Forrester (pictured).

SIUE's other two signees are from the St. Louis area. McCluer South-Berkeley guard Gerald Jones and 6'5" forward Mike Messer of Lafayette also inked letters of intent with the Cougars.

The 6'0" Jones is a versatile stat-sheet stuffer who can play either guard position. He averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for the Bulldogs, who are coached by his father, Gerald "Dinky" Jones.

Messer is an excellent perimeter shooter who provided a great compliment to former Lafayette standout Tyler Griffey, who is now a freshman at Illinois. Messer averaged nearly 11 points a game as a junior.

Messer played summer basketball with the Gateway Basketball Club while Jones played with Team Rameybasketball.com.
