Mizzou opens season tonight

The University of Missouri will open the 2009-10 season tonight with a preseason game against Division II Truman State University.
Excitement is high around the state after the Tigers' dramatic run to the Big XII Conference tournament title and an Elite Eight performance in the NCAA Tournament.
There is talent and leadership on board with the return of senior guards J.T. Tiller (pictured) and Zaire Taylor and talented sophomores Kim English, Marcus Denmon, Laurence Bowers and Miguel Paul.
Everyone in Tiger Country will be watching to see how coach Mike Anderson replaces his dynamic frontcourt duo of DeMarre Carroll and Leo Lyons, plus sharpshooting small forward Matt Lawrence, who all graduated and are now playing for pay.
Versatile 6'8" junior Justin Safford and 6'9" senior shot blocker Keith Ramsey will be slated for big-time duty up front along with the 6'8" Bowers and a slimmed down version of 6'9" sophomore Steve Moore.
The Tigers were picked seventh in the preseason Big XII Conference poll. The conference is absolutely loaded with good teams such as preseason No. 1 Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas State and many other excellent teams.
Remember one thing. Mizzou was tabbed to finish seventh in the Big XII last year as well. And we all know how last season turned out.
