'Melo

It may be time to create a Carmelo Anthony puppet for the 2010 NBA season.
Kobe Bryant and LeBron James are the two biggest names going in the sport today and rightly so, but they will have company at the top of the A-List of NBA superstars.
After one week of play, 'Melo has made an impressive opening argument for himself in his quest to be the NBA's premiere player. In the Nuggets' 3-0 start, Anthony is averaging a robust 37.7 points a game. Included are two 40-point outbursts against Portland and Oklahoma City.
Anthony has been one of the league's top scoring threats since his rookie season. But he has continued to elevate his play to point where he can be metioned in the same breath as Kobe and LeBron as the league's top player sweepstakes.
He started to go to another level after the 2008 Olympics when he helped the USA re-claim its gold medal. Anthnoy went back and became much more of a leader for the Nuggets, who advanced to the Western Conference Finals a year ago.
Having a great point guard and consummate pro like Chauncey Billups in Denver has also played a big role in Anthony's ascent to superstar status.
When he has the ball in his hands, Anthony is as dangerous as there is in the league. At 6'9" and 230 pounds, he cannot be stopped. He has always had the strong post-up game and he could always get to the hoop. Now, Melo is stroking it from long distance on a consistent basis.
Carmelo Anthony is unguardable.
