A "Grand" Evening

Legendary college basketball coach Harry Statham reached the 1,000-victory plateau in his Hall of Fame career as his McKendree Bearcats defeated East-West University 79-49 in Lebanon, Ill.
Statham becomes the first coach in the history of men's college basketball to record 1,000 victories at a four-year institution. He joins junior college legend Gene Bess at Three Rivers Community College and women's coaching icon Pat Summitt of Tennessee in the 1,000-win club.
In 44 seasons at McKendree, Statham has compiled a record of 1,000 wins and 381 losses. His current edition of the Bearcats are 5-0 and ranked No. 5 in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) poll.
I would like to extend a personal congruatations to Coach Statham on his historic accomplishment last night. As a alum and former player and Lindenwood University, I can proudly say that I contributed four victories to Coach Statham's total during my career at LU.
Coach Statham has brought winning basketball to the folks of Southern Illinois for the better part of five decades and he's done it with an entertaining style of play that puts plenty of points on the boards and victories in the win column.
Job well done, Harry. Good luck for the rest of the season.
