McKendree University basketball coach Harry Statham inched closer to the magical 1,000-victory plateau in his Hall of Fame coaching career on Saturday afternoon.
The Bearcats defeated Ohio Dominican 65-53 in Lebanon, Ill. to give Statham victory No. 998 his career, leaving him just two victories shy of No. 1,000. Statham is already the all-time winningnest coach in men's college basketball history.
Statham will go for victory No. 999 on Tuesday night when his Bearcats visit Graceland (Iowa)in a 7 p.m. tip-off.
