SLU women open with win
The Saint Louis University women's team opened the regular season in impressive style with a 71-45 victory over Southern Illinois University on Friday night at the Chaifetz Arena.
The Billikens opened the game with a 22-2 run and coasted to the east opening-season victory. SLU shot 52 percent from the field for the game.
Senior center Amanda Kemezys (pictured) recorded a double-double to lead the Billikens with 21 points and 11 rebounds. The 6'4" Belleville East product made seven of her nine shots from the field and seven of eight from the free-throw line.
Junior forward Lauren Woods added 14 points while senior guard Katie Paganelli added 11 points. Sophomore guard Janisha "Pooh" Geralds added a career-high eight assists.
SLU will visit Missouri State on Wednesday night in Springfield, Mo.
