McCluer South-Berkeley standout Gerald Jones gave a verbal commitment to Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville this week.
The 6'1" Jones is one of the most versatile players in the Class of 2010, having played point guard, shooting guard and small forward for his high school coach and father, Gerald Jones, and his summer team, Team Rameybasketball.com.
As a junior, Jones averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and five steals a game in leading the Bulldogs to a 16-10 record. Yes, young Gerald is the epitome of a stat-sheet stuffer.
The Jones-led Bulldogs will be one of the top small-school teams in the St. Louis area to watch in 2010.
The elder Gerald Jones, a.k.a. "Dinky" was a former prep standout at Vashon who went on to be a four-year starter at Eastern Illinois University.
