Saint Louis University men's basketball coach Rick Majerus (pictured) signed two excellent players from the Chicago area during the early signing period.
Dwayne Evans, a 6'5" small forward from Bolingbrook and Mike McCall, a 6'1" guard from Chicago Foreman inked letters of intent with the Billikens.
Evans averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds in leading Neaqua Valley to a 31-1 record as a junior. Neaqua Valley is expected to be one of the top teams in the state of lllinois this season. Evans is expected to provide size and athleticism at the small forward position.
McCall is rated as one of the top guards in the Chicago. As a junior, he averaged 14 points a game while shooting 44 percent from 3-point range. He is an exciting young combo guard who will be able to play alongside current SLU point guard Kwamain Mitchell or run the point himself.
The recruiting of McCall and Evans are SLU's first successful attempts in the Chicago area since the program had former SLU standout Marque Perry, who played at Chicago Prosser.
Getting both of these quality players is another step in the right direction of a program that is still building towards being a contender in the Atlantic 10 Conference. This class gives the Billikens three consecutive years of signing quality talent that will be able to grow and develop together over the next three or four years.
