Former local stars lead Mules rout
Former St. Louis Post-Dispatch Co-Players of the Year Alex Moosman (St. Francis Borgia) and Sanijay Watts (Jennings) combined for 50 points to lead Central Missouri State to a 115-99 victory over Southwest Baptist in an early season showdown of NCAA Division II top 10 national powers.
Central Missouri State entered the game ranked No. 2 in the NABC Division II natinoal rankings while MIAA rival Southwest Baptist was ranked No. 7.
The CMU Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg was on fire as the Mules registered their highest scoring game during the tenure of head coach Kim Anderson. Leading the way were the local boys, Moosman and Watts.
Moosman (pictured, left) hit a game-high 28 points, including a perfect six for six from beyond the 3-point line. The 6'4" Watts (pictured, right) contributed 22 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two steals to the Mules impressive victory as they improved to 5-0.
Southwest Baptist was playing without its 6'11" All-American center Matt Rogers (Doniphan, Mo.), who was out with an ankle injury. SBU fell to 7-2 on the season.
